The honey candle is one of the best-loved candles for asking for sweetness, love, harmony and abundance. But what exactly does it mean? What is each one for? And what happens if your honey candle drips?
In this guide we tell you everything: its meaning, what it is for, the colours, when to light it, how to do your ritual step by step and what it means when it drips.
Quick answer: the honey candle symbolises sweetness. It is lit to sweeten relationships and attract love, prosperity and harmony at home. The traditional days to light it are the 11th and 22nd of each month, ideally during a waxing moon. Our candles are made not to drip; if one ever does, it is usually because of a draught or because it has been moved, and honey candles are not read.

Choose what you want to sweeten in your life and we will put your ritual together: your candle, your next sweet day according to the moon and your wish turned into a card to seal with honey, save or print and place under the candle.

Choose what you want to sweeten in your life. We will prepare the whole ritual for you: your candle, your sweet day and your wish turned into a card to place under the candle.
What do you want to sweeten?
Your sweet wish
Choose the phrase that resonates with you most or write your own. It is written in the present tense, as if it were already real.
Tip: avoid “not” and the future tense. “I live calmly” works better than “I don’t want to be nervous”.
Your wish stays on your device: we do not save or send anything.
Honey is the symbol of sweetness. Since ancient times it has been offered to the gods and used in love and prosperity rituals because, just as it sweetens food, it is believed to sweeten people and situations.
That is why the honey candle stands for harmony, love, abundance and calm. Lighting it is asking for everything around you to become a little sweeter: your relationship, your home, your work or your own mind.
What is more, Las Velas de Mariano honey candles are handmade in 44 layers, the master number of protection and spiritual guidance, and their shape symbolises the tree of life, which draws positive energy to the person and their surroundings.
These are the most common wishes made with a honey candle:
You can also light it without any wish at all, simply to boost everything good in your life: health, family, work and happiness. The honey candle forces nothing: it attracts and softens.
To sweeten and strengthen an existing relationship (fewer arguments, more tenderness and more closeness), your best allies are honey figures. The Set of 2 Honey Hearts are lit at the same time, one heart for each person, so that both candles burn down together.
If you want to attract a new love, without a particular person in mind, the Honeycomb Block Candle sweetens your wish with affection and calm, and helps you open up to a sincere relationship.
Sweetening is a very old tradition: you write the names on a piece of paper, place it under the candle with a little honey or sugar and ask for the relationship to become sweeter. Always with good intentions: honey sweetens, it does not force.
Not all honey candles are the same. Each one has its moment:
| Type | What it is | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Handmade candle | Made by hand, layer by layer. | Rituals on the 11th and 22nd |
| Handmade pillar candle | A pillar candle you can light and put out as many times as you need. | Bringing a little harmony to the room whenever you wish |
| Classic candle | Perfect and steady, it burns calmly. | Keeping you company while you study or focus |
| Beeswax candle | 100% natural wax that burns quickly. | Quick and simple energy work |
| Honey figures | Hearts, honeycombs and other shapes. Each colour represents certain energies. | Sweetening any wish with affection and calm |
Any honey figure, such as the Set of 2 Honey Hearts or the Honeycomb Block Candle, will help you sweeten your wish with affection and calm.
Our honey candles come in two colours, and each one goes best with a particular kind of wish:
| Colour | What it is like | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Brown (natural) | The natural shade of the wax, warm and serene. | Harmony at home, calm and focus |
| Yellow (honeycomb) | The colour of the honeycomb, bright and cheerful. | Prosperity, abundance, love and joy |
Honey candle with cinnamon: cinnamon brings strength, speed and prosperity. Combined with honey, it is used to attract money and luck and also to rekindle passion in a relationship. Place a cinnamon stick next to the candle or sprinkle a little on the plate, never on the wick.
The 11th of each month is the most special day to light a honey candle. It is a master number linked to the awakening of consciousness and reconnecting with our essence.
If you could not light it on the 11th, the 22nd is also ideal: this master number, the “master builder”, represents fulfilment and achievement.
The waxing moon boosts everything you want to attract. And for love wishes, Friday, the day of Venus, is the favourite. Check the phases in our lunar calendar.
You can create your personalised ritual with the experience at the top. These are the basic steps:
How do you put out a honey candle? Ideally, do not blow it out. If you need to put it out, use a candle snuffer. And if you do blow it out, always put your hand behind the candle to catch your wish.
Never leave a lit candle unattended and place it on a heat-resistant plate, away from curtains, children and pets.
It is one of the most frequent questions. Our honey candles are made not to drip, but as they are handmade, it can happen.
To avoid it: no draughts and do not move it while it is lit. The candle must be upright with the wick at 2 cm. And it is better in a quiet spot than somewhere with people around.
Honey candles work through their sweetness and scent, which is why they are not read: there is no need to look for messages in their drips, their flame or what is left of them. If you would like a reading of your candle, choose one of our ritual candles prepared with prayer, which can be read.
