The Sacred Wood
Palo Santo, whose name literally means "Sacred Wood", has been used for centuries by different South American cultures as part of cleansing, purification, and spiritual well-being rituals.
When gently lit, it releases its distinctive aromatic smoke, traditionally used to refresh the energy of a home, create a peaceful atmosphere, and encourage calm, focus, and inner balance.
Its pleasant fragrance also makes it one of the most popular natural incense woods for eliminating unwanted odours while bringing a sense of freshness and harmony to any space.
How to Use Palo Santo
- Light one end of the Palo Santo stick with a match or lighter.
- Allow it to burn for about 30 seconds.
- Gently blow out the flame so the wood continues to release its fragrant smoke.
- Walk slowly through the room, allowing the smoke to reach corners, doors, and windows, places where stagnant energy is traditionally believed to accumulate.
- If you wish to perform a personal energy cleansing, gently move the smoke around your body, always taking care.
At Home...
For home energy cleansing, we recommend starting in the room furthest from the front door and gradually moving towards the exit, symbolising the release of everything you wish to leave behind.
You can repeat this process whenever the atmosphere feels heavy, after stressful situations, arguments, large gatherings, or when beginning a new chapter in your life.
An Ancient Ritual for Harmonising Spaces
Palo Santo remains one of the most widely used elements in energy cleansing rituals thanks to its warm, comforting aroma.
Many people incorporate it into their meditation, yoga, mindfulness, or Reiki practice, while others simply enjoy its fragrance to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere at home.
It also makes an excellent complement to candles, ritual baths, energy sprays, or any practice related to harmonising your living space.
For an even more comfortable experience, we recommend using our woden Palo Santo Burner, specially designed to hold the wood safely while it burns.
