Honey candles are beeswax or honey wax candles lit to sweeten things: love, harmony at home and prosperity. Here you will find both types: honeycomb candles, sheets of natural beeswax that smell of honey with no added scent, and handmade candles, built up layer by layer in our workshop. Traditionally, they are lit on the 11th and 22nd of each month.

Honey Candles

What are honey candles used for?

  • Sweetening a relationship: fewer arguments, more tenderness and closeness.
  • Attracting love or strengthening self-love.
  • Harmony at home: peace and a good atmosphere in the family.
  • Prosperity: money, work and opportunities.
  • Calm and focus for studying or exam revision.

We explain the meaning of each colour and shape, and what it means if a honey candle cries, in honey candle meaning and uses.

Honeycomb or handmade honey candles: the differences

They share a name, but they are two different candles. The honey itself does not burn: what burns is the beeswax from the comb, and that is where the scent comes from.

When and how to light a honey candle

Traditionally, you light it on the 11th and 22nd of each month, ideally during a waxing moon. For love, Friday is the preferred day.

  1. Choose a quiet, draught-free spot, with the candle upright and the wick at about 2 cm.
  2. Write your wish on a piece of paper, in the present tense and in positive words, and place it under the candle.
  3. Light it with a wooden match while you visualise what you are asking for.
  4. Let it burn down, and never leave it unattended.
  5. If you need to put it out, use a candle snuffer. If you blow it out, place your hand behind it to catch your wish.

Handmade in our workshop

We make our handmade honey candles using 18th-century techniques: pure waxes, 100% natural cotton wicks and moulds made from special alloys. The honeycomb candles are rolled by hand without melting the wax, so the hexagonal pattern stays intact. Because they are natural, the colour and scent vary slightly from one batch to the next.

Honey candles: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a honeycomb honey candle and a handmade one?

A honeycomb candle is a sheet of natural beeswax rolled by hand: it keeps the hexagonal pattern and smells of honey on its own. A handmade one is built up layer by layer with honey wax, and it is the thin, tall candle used in sweetening rituals.

What do you ask a honey candle for?

Sweetness in all its forms: sweetening a relationship, attracting love, harmony at home, prosperity or calm for studying.

What days should you light a honey candle?

On the 11th and 22nd of each month, ideally during a waxing moon. For love, on Fridays. If you need to, you can light it on any other day.

How long does a honey candle last?

It depends on the format. The classic honey candle, for example, burns for about 12 hours.

Why does a honey candle cry?

Our candles are made not to drip. If one does, it is usually because of a draught, moving it or a wick longer than 2 cm. Honey candles are not read for signs, so it has no negative meaning.

Can you put it out and light it again?

Yes. Ideally, use a candle snuffer. If you blow it out, place your hand behind the candle to catch your wish, and light it again the next day.
