Liturgical charcoal 30mm to purify spaces and rituals. Ignite intention with sacred smoke that cleanses energy and prepares the altar.
🌿 Aroma and origin
Liturgical charcoal is the ancient voice of sacred fire. Each 30mm piece we offer is the result of a millennia-old tradition: the ritual burning of pure plant charcoal, free from chemical additives, that opens portals between the visible and invisible. Its origins trace back to Middle Eastern temples, medieval monasteries and indigenous altars where smoke was considered the breath of the sacred. When ignited, it releases a neutral yet potent fragrance, a blank canvas where energy can write its message. It is the perfect vehicle for resins, herbs and aromatic woods you wish to burn in your ritual practice.
🔥 Purifying properties
Liturgical charcoal is the guardian of energetic thresholds. Its smoke cleanses charged spaces, dissolves emotional blockages and prepares sacred ground for new intentions. It works especially during moments of transition: seasonal changes, closure rituals, deep cleansings of home or energetic body. In shamanic tradition it is known as "incense of new beginnings". We recommend it to accompany liberation meditations, protection ceremonies, and as a purifying base before lighting candles for specific work. Its energy is neutral, receptive, ready to amplify the intention you give it.
How to use it
Place the charcoal tablet in a heat-resistant censer (ceramic, metal or stone). Light it with direct fire until you see a small bright red edge; wait 30 seconds. You will see how the charcoal ignites on its own with a characteristic spark. Once activated, it is your living support: you can sprinkle resins, dried herbs or flowers over it. Ensure proper ventilation. Combine it with our candles to enhance rituals: the charcoal purifies the space whilst the candle sustains your intention. Each session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes of continuous smoke.
